Tonie Rigby
Since completing a BA Hons in drawing and painting at Huddersfield University in 2002, Tonie Rigby has followed a successful career in Art, creating works for galleries and solo shows.
Tonie works primarily in acrylic on canvas, linen, paper and board. Her process sees her returning to a piece until she feels its completion; only then releasing it to its longer journey. Recurring themes in her work are landscapes and figures taken into abstraction. While working on a piece, words may introduce themselves to the process. These words may or may not accompany the piece.
She paints daily in her Saddleworth home studio. Tonie has exhibited widely with work in many private collections. For many years she had her studio in Woodend Mills, leaving some 17 years ago. Now, being represented by The Forgotten Gallery at Woodend Mills in a way, she feels it’s like coming home.
I love the paint. I love putting it down, I love taking it off..... looking for a sense of, ‘rightness’
